New Distillery Building, Llanberis
Our design for a new whisky distillery, embedded within a disused slate quarry and surrounded by a rugged mountain landscape, directly references its landscape setting. A heavy slate plinth reflects the distinctive terraced topography of the quarry whilst a light and expressive roof establishes a dialogue with the distant peaks.
A destination building incorporating visitor centre, restaurant and events venue, as well as a production facility, the building will form the public face of this new distillery venture.
Sutherland & Co were appointed following an invited design competition.
